Getting to know G better days are normally Fridays but I was still in Bruges mode yesterday so uploaded a photo of Bruges instead! and with today being the last day of the year, it’s probably a little more appropriate to be about me today as we look back and reflect on the year 2011!

and what a crazy year it has been!

For me the biggest thing this year has to be the earthquakes back home in Christchurch, New Zealand and watching all my friends and family lose everything.

and of course there was the Japan Earthquakes and Turkey’s earthquakes, the flooding and mudslides in Brazil, flooding in Thailand, Pakistan, and the Philippines all resulting in loss of life’s and considerable damage.

Osama Bin Laden was killed, as well as Muammar Gaddafi.

There were lots of bombings and loss of life’s, and the Royal Marriage which I managed to avoid!

and lastly the US formally declares an end to the Iraq War…

The positive part of 2011 for me was leaving my full-time employment  and working full-time on my Photography, and I was lucky enough to get a book published on to Amazon Kindle before the year was out, and of course all the places I travelled to this year as mentioned yesterday.

So of 2011 my most popular photo has to be Istanbul a Moment as it made it into Picture Correct’s Top 10 Photos of 2011

My most popular photo on Flickr and Facebook this year has to be Tower Bridge Light Trails

Here is my first self-portrait I did in my hallway this year which was a success, though probably more thanks to the bottle of wine I was drinking at the time than anything else!

Happy New Years!

ah just had a lovely couple of days in Bruges with my partner for his birthday, we took the Eurostar over which is such a nice way to travel, especially as we ended up with First Class seats on the way home, the weather was cold and wet though and Bruges was full of people but we had a wicked time all the same, its such a lovely pretty town.

That will have to be the last trip of the year, and certainly for a long while, while I knuckle down and get some work done, this year I have been lucky enough to go to Bruges, Berlin, Malta, Gozo, Alicante, Sorrento, Positano, Capri,  New Zealand (Christchurch, French Farm, Akaroa, Kaikoura, Queenstown, Arrowtown) Gran Canaria, Cotswolds, Stratford-on-Avon, and Bath so I have been very lucky indeed!

Today’s photo is a fun technique called Zoom Burst.

(If you want to learn how to do this technique you can find out in my eBook How To… Night Photography on Amazon, my Website or Smashwords, it can be done to anything, and only takes 30 seconds to learn)

Had a bit of a scare last night when I realised Christmas is this week! I know I’ve been living in my own little bubble, but this week!  I need to go xmas shopping!

Now you have all seen Positano by night in one of my earlier post, so today is Positano by day, what a gorgeous little village, would definitely recommend it to people, though watch out for the inflated tourist prices and the cover charges, but if you did what we did and buy a drink from a diary/corner store and just sit on the rocks, you can enjoy a lovely view as the sun goes down for next to nothing 🙂

A follow on from my Black and White Trafalgar Square the other day, today is a colourful Xmas one!

London, London, London what else can I say really?

London Tower Bridge and City Hall

I’m having to go back through my photos and put my signature on them as they seem to fly away, so here is a oldie but a goodie one of my first favourite photos, done with HDR (three photos at different exposures blended together) I have a tutorial for this is my new book  How To… Night Photography on how to do HDR’s as well when it comes out!

Still in London now and here is a photo of the Gherkin with Light trails while two business men wait to cross the road.

Wow, yesterdays photo went mad on Facebook, (Photography London and then shared on to Oxford Street ‘s facebook page) but was really quite on Flickr and on my own personal facebook, I don’t know what people like, but I do photography for me at the end of the day so if people like it, thats just a bonus!

Still in Berlin here is another photo of the Brandenburg Gate but this time with Light Trails zooming past!

The O2 Arena at Night

I went to Canary Wharf to get some skyline photos at night and then noticed the O2 Arena in the distance, I had no idea you could get a photo of it from Canary Wharf or it was that close, so it was a bit of a bonus photo for me in the end, but I love taking photos at Twilight and Night and with Winter really close it’s so much easier for me to get out and get the Twilight photos than ever before, My ebook How To… Night Photography is finished also so will be up on Amazon Kindle by the end of the month! Very exciting!
