Happy New Years Everyone!!!

Hope 2012 brings everyone everything they desire!

I hope you all don’t have as sore heads as I do today! Had a little bit of a house party for New Years and my head is still hurting from it!

So I’m not going to say much today because it hurts to do so ūüėČ so on to the photo instead:

Getting to know G better days are normally Fridays but I was still in Bruges mode yesterday so uploaded a photo of Bruges instead! and with today being the last day of the year, it’s probably a little more appropriate to be about me today as we look back and reflect on the year 2011!

and what a crazy year it has been!

For me the biggest thing this year has to be the earthquakes back home in Christchurch, New Zealand and watching all my friends and family lose everything.

and of course there was the Japan Earthquakes and Turkey’s earthquakes, the flooding and mudslides in Brazil, flooding in Thailand, Pakistan, and the Philippines all resulting in loss of life’s and considerable damage.

Osama Bin Laden was killed, as well as Muammar Gaddafi.

There were lots of bombings and loss of life’s, and the Royal Marriage which I managed to avoid!

and lastly the US formally declares an end to the Iraq War…

The positive part of 2011 for me was leaving my full-time employment  and working full-time on my Photography, and I was lucky enough to get a book published on to Amazon Kindle before the year was out, and of course all the places I travelled to this year as mentioned yesterday.

So of 2011 my most popular photo has to be Istanbul a Moment as it made it into¬†Picture¬†Correct’s Top 10 Photos of 2011

My most popular photo on Flickr and Facebook this year has to be Tower Bridge Light Trails

Here is my first self-portrait I did in my hallway this year which was a success, though probably more thanks to the bottle of wine I was drinking at the time than anything else!

Thank you for your support in 2011 and lets see what we can achieve in 2012!

Happy New Years!

ah just had a lovely couple of days in Bruges with my partner for his birthday, we took the Eurostar over which is such a nice way to travel, especially as we ended up with First Class seats on the way home, the weather was cold and wet though and Bruges was full of people but we had a wicked time all the same, its such a lovely pretty town.

That will have to be the last trip of the year, and certainly for a long while, while I knuckle down and get some work done, this year I have been lucky enough to go to Bruges, Berlin, Malta, Gozo, Alicante, Sorrento, Positano, Capri,  New Zealand (Christchurch, French Farm, Akaroa, Kaikoura, Queenstown, Arrowtown) Gran Canaria, Cotswolds, Stratford-on-Avon, and Bath so I have been very lucky indeed!

Night Falls on Gozo, Malta

Frustratingly just as I was taking this photo a team of rugby guys decided to strip off, run in front, and jump in the water and have a swim!

Must say my friend enjoyed it but I was focused on getting a photo, especially as the light was fading fast and this was the only night to get a photo, as we were off back to mainland Malta the next morning.

So I have had to do a bit of photoshoping to get rid of some of the bodies, I shot it with a long exposure to get rid of most of the people swimming but the ones that stayed still needed to be photoshoped out!

But on a side note! Can you believe it’s Christmas Eve!¬† Hope everyone is having a lovely one with friends or family x

and if you need any last-minute gifts don’t forget I have my eBook How To… Night Photography on sale at Amazon for Kindle, or if you don’t have a kindle you can get the free kindle app for Iphone, Audroid¬†and PC, if you need it for Ipad, Kobo, Sony, Nook¬†etc you can get it from http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/112368¬†and soon from Apple, WH Smith, Barnes and Noble very exciting!

My heart goes out to everyone back home, the latest earthquakes have been going on for over a year (Since September 2010) and have caused considerable damage, loss of lives and heart ache, I feel so hopeless being on the other side of the world but I want you to all know, I’m thinking of you, stay safe x

Normally Fridays are getting to know me better and in-light of the recent earthquakes in Christchurch, New Zealand over night and because that is my home town, I’m going to make today’s about Christchurch, well Canterbury really the province in which Christchurch is in.

and as it just so happened last week, I was out taking photos in London and I was walking along a road that I hadn’t been on before leading to Trafalgar Square and I saw a plaque on a building, so I stopped to read it (as you do, because London is such an interesting city) and the Plague read:

“Canterbury Province of New Zealand In March 1948 on this site formerly 41 Charing Cross, the Canterbury association met and planned the settlement of the province founded on the 16 of December 1850 by english settlers let by John Robert Goodley”

So I had to take a photo.

Christchurch is very special to me, it’s where I was born, where I grew up, where my family is so I need you to be safe Christchurch and stop with the earthquakes already! they have been going on far to long…
